plot your novel
Hi, I’m Kerry,
I’ve been working with words since 2015, first as a senior editor for an ESL publisher, and since 2019 as a freelance fiction editor. Along the way, I’ve trained with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, the Author Editor Clinic, and the Publishing Training Centre to gain the skills an editor needs to bring out the best in your story.
Right now, I’m working on my first full-length novel, so I understand how hard it can be to transform your ideas into a workable plot. And getting feedback on my own work has given me an appreciation for how painful it can be if not handled with grace.
Whether you’re just starting or putting the finishing touches on a draft, let’s connect and talk about your story and where you want to take it.

About me
Here’s a little more info about your friendly, story-loving editor and writing partner.
Learner
I love learning new skills and have taken some excellent editing courses with the Author Editor Clinic, the CIEP, and the PTC, all of whom are well-respected training providers.
Editor
I worked for seven years as a senior editor and writer for an ESL publishing company before retraining as a fiction editor. Since then, I’ve edited novels for indie authors and US and UK publishing companies.
Teacher
I’ve been teaching English since 2000 which has given me a solid understanding of grammar, tense, and the writing process. Now, I apply those skills to help writers finish their stories.
Writer
My writing includes ESL articles, short stories, and novel outlines for a publishing company. I’m now working on my first full-length sci-fi horror based on the Tempest.
No AI
I don’t work with AI generated manuscripts for many reasons, one of which is that I prefer to work with human, rough, messy, and heartfelt stories. I’m here to help you gain confidence in your skills so that you don’t need to rely on an app to do the work for you. If you have used AI to outline, write, or edit your work, I’m probably not the editor for you.
“Kerry was a pleasure to work with from the very first email: passionate, attentive and a calming influence for me. It was a seamless process and the finished product was better than I could have imagined. She polished the story whilst maintaining the heart and soul of it. Will be working with her on future projects!”
what I believe
001.
Writing doesn’t have to be a solitary craft. Connecting with other creatives is rewarding and a great way to learn.
002.
Be kind to yourself and celebrate your achievments rather than punish yourself for failing to meet a deadline.
003.
Every story has to start with an idea but turning ideas into full-length books takes effort and time.
These are a few of my favorite things
Reading fantasy, sci-fi, and romance stories, watching anime, relaxing over a cappucino, working on my novel, watching revenge themed k-dramas, and talking about stories!
