Characters
Finding your character’s voice and point of view can be difficult especiallly if you’re not sure who they really are. Asking your characters tough and revealing questions helps you understand their reactions to conflict, people, and events.
Below are a list of 10 questions to help you find out who you’re really writing about.
1. Family
Are there any unresolved issues with someone in your family? What caused them?
2. Love
Do you think love is something that lasts forever, or is it merely temporary?
3. Money
What are you willing to do for money?
4. Honesty
What’s the biggest secret you’re keeping, and why do you hide it?
5. Self-Image
How do you think other people perceive you, and do you care?
6. Ambitions
What do you most want to achieve, and what are you willing to sacrifice for it?
7. Friendship & Loyalty
What’s a betrayal you’ve never been able to forgive, and why?
8. Vulnerability
What are you most afraid of losing, and why?
9. Regret
Is there something in your past you would do differently if given the chance? Why does it still matter?
10. Principles
Do you believe people can truly change, or do they stay fundamentally the same?
